Key Update
Five students from the hostel of Kuniya College of Arts and Science, Kasaragod, were admitted to a private hospital in Cherkala after developing vomiting and diarrhoea, sparking concerns of food poisoning. Four of the affected students are girls and one is a boy.
Symptoms Reported Among Others
Several other hostel residents also experienced similar health issues but required only outpatient treatment. The symptoms reportedly began two days ago. Authorities are yet to determine why only a small number of students fell ill among the nearly 900 living on campus. Following a complaint, health officials inspected the hostel premises and kitchen facilities. Their report stated that the facilities were being maintained hygienically.
Students in Stable Condition
Hospital authorities confirmed that the condition of all five hospitalised students is stable.
