Kasaragod Hotels Face Health Crackdown

Kasaragod Hotels Face Health Crackdown

Report

The Kasaragod municipal health department conducted inspections across the city, uncovering expired food, banned plastic products, and poor waste management practices in several hotels and canteens. Officials confiscated expired food items from several establishments, including Signature Metro on MG Road, Udupi Arya Bhavan in Karanthakkad, and Shalimar, Century, Moonlight, and Homecho near the new bus stand.

Lack of Waste Management Facilities

Inspectors found Vasantha Vihar Hotel on MG Road operating without proper waste management facilities, raising concerns about hygiene standards. Authorities seized prohibited plastic products from Hotel Sreekrishna Bhavan and Grand Kitchen on Railway Station Road, reinforcing the city’s efforts to curb plastic waste. The health department aims to continue monitoring food safety and hygiene compliance to protect public health in Kasaragod.
