The district administration has mandated strict food safety compliance for food business operators during this year’s Attukal Pongala festival in March in Thiruvananthapuram. Hotels and restaurants must prominently display their food safety licence or registration. Additionally, hotel staff must carry their medical fitness certificates for inspections.

Mandatory Training for Food Vendors

The Food Safety department will conduct a workshop for food vendors and cooks at Bhakshya Suraksha Bhavan, Thycaud, on March 1 at 10:30 a.m. This session is compulsory for individuals and groups planning to provide ‘Annadanam’ during the Attukal Pongala festival. Interested participants must register in advance by emailing their name, address, and phone number to fsonemomcircle@gmail.com.

Registration for Food Distribution

Institutions, organisations, and individuals distributing food, snacks, or water during the Attukal Pongala festival must register with the Food Safety Department before the event. They can complete the registration process through Akshaya centres, as directed by the district administration.
