Overview
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will hold a special registration camp for street food vendors in Coimbatore on June 24. The event aims to help vendors register with the food regulator. In addition, FSSAI will organise a Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) session for food handlers and conduct medical check-ups for them.
T. Anuradha, FSSAI’s Designated Officer for Coimbatore, announced that street food vendors will not need to pay the usual ₹100 registration fee. FSSAI requires all food business operators with an annual turnover below ₹12 lakh to register, while those earning above ₹12 lakh must obtain a licence.
