The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered a 100% inspection of all packaged water unit facilities in Maharashtra to strengthen public health protections. The directive was issued during a recent review meeting, according to an FSSAI statement. FSSAI CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao emphasised the importance of conducting compliance audits for packaged water twice a year at these units to ensure consistent food safety standards. He also urged state authorities to promote better hygiene practices among street food vendors.
Temples Recognised for Food Hygiene
At the same meeting, Maharashtra Food Safety Commissioner Rajesh J Narvekar announced that Swamy Samarth Trust and the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple had been awarded the FSSAI’s ‘Eat Right Place of Worship’ certification for their dedicated efforts in maintaining food hygiene and safety.
