Report
Dr Danda Rajireddy, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University, highlighted organic farming and sustainability as key to enhancing horticultural productivity. He stressed that integrating contemporary research with natural farming methods can help meet the needs of a growing population. While chairing a global seminar on plant health and food safety—co-hosted by Telangana Horticultural University, Auburn University (Alabama), and the Asian PGPR Society—Dr. Rajireddy emphasized the crucial role of soil and plant health in ensuring future food and nutritional security.
Call for Research in Regenerative and Organic Farming
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. M.S. Reddy, Chairman and Founder of the Asian PGPR Society, noted the rising global awareness of safe food. He stressed the need to shift research focus toward crop health and advocated for advancements in regenerative horticulture, natural farming, organic farming, integrated agriculture, and bio-fertilizer applications.
Dr Reddy also pointed out that crops cultivated in India exhibit superior resistance compared to those from other regions. Recognizing this potential, Telangana Horticultural University and the Asian PGPR Society in America have agreed to collaborate on research.
MoU Signed for Collaborative Research
During the seminar, both institutions formalized their commitment to joint research by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to advance sustainable horticulture and strengthen global efforts in plant health and food safety.
