Hyderabad Food Safety Officials Inspect Zomato Hyperpure Warehouse

Report

As part of the continuing raid at various food establishments, food safety officials in Hyderabad visited a Zomato Hyperpure warehouse in Kukatpally on October 29, 2024. Hyperpure, Zomato‘s end-to-end supply chain solution for the Hotels, Restaurants, and Caterers industry, provides a range of products, including fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, gourmet foods, packaging, consumables, and kitchen equipment, tailored for those new to the concept.

Violations Revealed

The team verified the warehouse’s FBO status and confirmed it had a State License in place. During the inspection, officials noted the license was prominently displayed, as required. They also checked for necessary Medical Fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records for the premises. However, they identified breaches of food safety regulations. The team found 18 kilograms of button mushrooms labelled with a “future date of packing” (marked October 30, 2024, despite the inspection occurring the day before). They observed house flies in the warehouse and pointed out that the building was “open directly to the outside environment without a proper insect-proof screen.” Additionally, some kitchen staff were not wearing hair caps and aprons.

Similar Incidents

This was not the first time the task force had examined a warehouse and revealed issues. In June, authorities raided a Blinkit warehouse in Devar Yamjal, located in the Medchal Malkajgiri District near Hyderabad. They discovered unsanitary conditions, expired products, potentially infested food, and various other problems. The team stated that “notice will be issued and further action shall be taken accordingly.”
