Key Update
Jaipur Health Department food safety officers inspected Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd in Jhotwara Industrial Area on Tuesday and found expired food items stored on the racks, including coriander powder, masala buttermilk, pumpkin seeds and a 1 kg packet of chickpeas.
They also noticed dust-covered packs and several leaking packets and declared the storage conditions unsafe. The team destroyed all expired food items on the spot and collected samples of almond beverage, Unibic biscuits and cinnamon for lab testing under the Food Safety and Standards Act. Officials said they will take legal action once the test results arrive.
Officials Flag Misleading Labelling
The inspection team also identified misleading labelling, as sellers passed off the ‘Krista’ brand bandhani hing as genuine hing. Officers will file a separate challan in court for this violation.
Team Seizes Fake Groundnut Oil Tins
In another action, food safety officers investigated a complaint about fake Sona Sikka brand groundnut oil being sold in Jaipur. Shyam and Shyam Oil Pvt Ltd filed the complaint, which led officers to Messrs Girraj Trading Company and Messrs Girraj Prasad Pradeep Kumar in Tunga.
Shop owners told officers they had ordered Sona Sikka oil but found the supplied tins suspicious and immediately alerted the company, preventing the sale of potentially unsafe oil. During the inspection, officers seized 39 tins—15 from one shop and 24 from another—and collected samples for testing at the Central State Food Laboratory. They will take further action once the laboratory submits its report.
