Report
A passenger on the Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express found a dead lizard in his meal while travelling in Coach C-5, Seat No. 75. He discovered the lizard in a curry dish served on board and immediately raised an alarm. Fellow passengers said the catering team served the food while the train was passing through Ernakulam. After eating part of the meal, the passenger approached others with the food container and caused a commotion. When asked what he had found, he initially remained silent but later revealed that it was a dead lizard. On contacting the train’s catering service manager, officials confirmed that a lizard was indeed found in the food.
Passenger Seeks Treatment After Disembarking
The passenger got off at Kozhikode and visited a private hospital for medical treatment following the incident. Based on the complaint, officials arranged for his medical evaluation.
Past Incidents Raise Safety Concerns
Passengers claimed that similar complaints had been reported earlier on the same route, raising serious questions about the hygiene and quality of food served on the Vande Bharat Express. Although the man did not show the lizard to other passengers, the uproar highlighted ongoing concerns with catering standards.
