Key Update
Food safety officials inspected Shubham Café, a multi-cuisine restaurant on Visakhapatnam Beach Road, and booked a case against it for serving stale food and maintaining unhygienic conditions. Visakhapatnam Assistant Controller of Food Safety Chakravarthy said the team visited the restaurant for the second time on Monday and found serious violations again.
Restaurant Stored Day-Old Food for Customers
Officials discovered that the restaurant had stored fried rice, noodles, and pasta prepared the previous day in the deep freezer and planned to serve them to customers. This practice violates basic food safety norms and puts diners at risk. The team observed poor hygiene across the premises and found cockroaches in multiple areas. They booked a case under the relevant sections of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and served a show-cause notice to the restaurant.
Food Samples Sent for Testing
Officials collected food samples and sent them to the state food laboratory in Hyderabad for analysis. They expect the test results within 15 days, after which further action will follow.
