Key Update
The Indore district administration on Monday sealed a bakery on Dhar Road after officials found multiple food safety violations. Collector Shivam Verma directed a joint team from the district administration, the Food and Drug Administration, and tehsildar Yogesh Meshram to conduct a surprise inspection at Gold Star Bakery in Mamta Nagar.
The team found proprietor Mohammad Ayan Mansuri manufacturing different types of toast in unhygienic conditions and storing raw materials improperly. They also discovered a suspicious artificial sweetener, believed to be saccharin. Mansuri admitted that he was mixing it into the toast products. The use of artificial sweeteners without declaring them on the label violates the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the official release stated.
Bakery Sealed; Large Quantities Seized
Officials immediately shut down the bakery and sealed it until further notice. They seized 587 kilograms of material, including Gold Star Premium Toast, maida, palm oil, and custard powder. The team collected seven samples, including the suspected sweetener, for lab testing.
Second Check at Rehan Food Products
In another inspection, the team visited Rehan Food Products at Gram Bank on Dhar Road and found toast production underway. In the presence of proprietor Faruk Hussain, officials seized 318 kilograms of premix and 200 packets of finished toast. They collected samples here, too. All samples have been sent to the Food Testing Laboratory, and officials will initiate further legal action after receiving the analysis reports.
