31 Students Hospitalized After Food Poisoning at Karimnagar Hostel

On Tuesday, 31 students sought medical attention after falling ill from food they ate at their hostel in Karimnagar, Telangana. The incident occurred after dinner at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC Welfare Residential Gurukul in Sharma Nagar on January 6. Several students began experiencing symptoms like diarrhoea and vomiting after the meal. Authorities quickly transported them to a government hospital that night. By morning, more students reported stomach pains, leading to their transfer to the hospital for treatment.

Cauliflower Curry Identified as the Potential Cause

The dinner served that evening included cauliflower curry. Out of 400 students, 31 fell ill. Authorities confirmed that they will conduct an inquiry to determine the cause of the illness. Dr. G. Veera Reddy, superintendent of the government general hospital in Karimnagar, informed the director of medical education that the 31 affected students, aged between 11 and 15, received treatment for vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. He assured that all students had received treatment and that their conditions were stable.
