Kerala Leads with 26 ‘Eat Right’ Certified Railway Stations

Top State for Food Safety

Kerala has emerged as the leader in India, with 26 railway stations now recognized for maintaining high food safety standards. The ‘Eat Right’ certification, awarded by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), ensures safe and hygienic food practices across the state’s stations. Nationwide, only 198 stations have earned this prestigious certification.

New Certifications This Month

This month, Cherthala, Punalur, and Kayamkulam stations were newly certified, contributing to Kerala’s growing number of ‘Eat Right’ stations. The certification process evaluates critical factors such as water quality, cleanliness, waste management, and the quality of food oils used at these stations.

Growth in Certified Stations

As of December 2023, only 114 stations across India had received the certification. By June 2024, the number had risen to 154, demonstrating significant progress. However, some previously certified stations have yet to renew their certifications.
