Telangana Food Safety Officials Uncover Major Violations in Recent Inspections

The food safety officials in Telangana have recently stepped up inspections across the state, focusing on cloud kitchens, restaurants, food manufacturing units, and bottled water suppliers. The authorities have reported discovering significant violations.

Medak District: Unlicensed Facility and Labeling Violations

On December 3, 2024, officials inspected M/s Sunny Foods in Kallakal village, Manoharabad Mandal, Medak District, uncovering critical violations. The facility lacked a valid FSSAI license and breached labelling regulations by using misleading images and product names unrelated to the contents. Inspectors also found expired food additives, such as Tomato Masala and Maggi Masala, in the preparation of ready-to-eat snacks. As a result, authorities confiscated and disposed of snacks, including namkeen, chips, and coloured saunf, valued at ₹2.13 lakh.

Food Safety Crackdown: Violations Uncovered at Hyderabad Manufacturing Units

In November 2024, officials inspected two production units in the Katedan area of Hyderabad, identifying multiple violations. They confiscated hundreds of kilograms of ginger-garlic paste and immediately revoked the facilities’ licenses. Inspectors ordered the operations to cease and stated, “Further criminal and civil actions will follow, based on laboratory analysis results.” In the same month, authorities inspected two nutraceutical manufacturing units in IDA Mallapur, Hyderabad. At one facility, they seized kilograms of substandard inventory while identifying several infractions at both locations.
