Report
The Telangana State Food Safety Task Force inspected nutraceutical manufacturing units in IDA Mallapur and identified multiple violations of safety standards. On November 20 and 21, officials raided Vin Biomed and Nuvista Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, uncovering serious breaches of food safety regulations.
Expired Ingredients and Improperly Labeled Products Discovered
During the November 20 raid at Vin Biomed, inspectors found expired ingredients, including food colouring blends, flavourings, and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). They immediately discarded these outdated items. Inspectors also discovered 500 kg each of chocolate powder and vanilla powder without proper labelling, including manufacturing dates, use-by dates, FSSAI licenses, and logos.
Authorities Confiscate Non-Compliant Nutraceutical Products
Officials confiscated six kilograms of Co-Enzyme Q10 powder, valued at Rs. 50,000 because it lacked an FSSAI license on the label. They also seized 17 kilograms of MK cocoa powder, valued at Rs. 6,800, for missing FSSAI license details and batch numbers. Further investigations revealed that Vin Biomed did not have an in-house testing facility and failed to provide test reports for its food items, exposing a significant lack of compliance with safety standards.
