Report
A team from the Food and Drug Administration, led by District Food Safety Officer Dr. Amit Chauhan, inspected a factory in Sector 2, Kurukshetra, Haryana, after receiving a complaint about the factory operating without a license. The team destroyed nearly five quintals of illegal paneer after collecting samples during the inspection.
Suspected Contamination of Paneer
Dr Chauhan revealed that inspectors found cans of refined oil and vanaspati at the factory, which they suspect were used to increase the fat content in the paneer. The factory had been operating on a large scale for the past few months. The team also collected samples of milk and khoya and sent them to a food testing laboratory in Chandigarh for further analysis.
Notice Issued to Factory Owner
The factory owner was absent during the inspection and failed to present a license. The FDA has issued a notice to the owner and will take further action based on the laboratory analysis. Dr. Chauhan emphasized that they cannot allow unsafe products to enter the market, as it could endanger consumers’ health.
