Report
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has made Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) mandatory for workers in online food delivery services. This new system, called the Food Safety Supervisory Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC), ensures food safety by maintaining hygiene from food packing to the handling of food items.
Training and Certification Requirements
FSSAI will provide workers with training on hygiene practices and food handling. The training will be conducted in stages, addressing different sectors of the industry. Workers who complete the training will receive a FoSTaC certificate. Authorities have announced that online food delivery businesses must ensure all workers have this certification to continue operations.
Key Training Areas
The training will cover essential areas such as wearing gloves, maintaining the quality of food storage bags, and ensuring food safety during online food delivery. It will also include health checks for food delivery personnel. FSSAI has stated that companies that employ workers without FoSTaC certification will face fines of up to ₹10 lakh.
