Police Bust Illegal Ginger-Garlic Paste Unit in Bandlaguda

Report

The South-East Zone Task Force and Bandlaguda Police raided an illegal ginger-garlic paste manufacturing unit in Patel Nagar, Bandlaguda, Telangana on Tuesday, June 3. The team arrested 44-year-old Mohammed Faisal, who had been running the unit from his home under the name FK Food Product.

Officials Seize 870 Kg of Adulterated Paste

During the raid, authorities seized more than 870 kilograms of chemically adulterated ginger-garlic paste. Faisal had been supplying the tainted product to general stores and directly to customers in the area. Investigators discovered that Faisal had used banned food additives—Titanium Dioxide and Mono Citrate—to enhance the paste’s colour and texture. Both substances are prohibited in food production under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines.

Additional Ingredients and Equipment Confiscated

The task force also confiscated 4 kg of Titanium Dioxide, 16 kg of Mono Citrate, and 4 kg of turmeric powder, all used to alter the product’s appearance. The seized materials, valued at ₹1.4 lakh, were found on-site during the operation. Police have launched further investigations to trace the supply chain and determine the scale of the illegal operation. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on food adulteration and protecting public health.
