Recall Targets Specific Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a nationwide recall on June 18, 2025, for select chocolate products made by Weaver Nut Company. The company had initiated the recall a day earlier after discovering that certain semi-sweet chocolate nonpareils contained undeclared milk allergens.
The recall affects two types of products under the Weaver Nut Company brand:
-
Item 47518 – Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils with Christmas-Colored Seeds
Lot Numbers: 204206, 204207, 204208, 204209, 204212, 224225 -
Item D2645 – Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils with White Seeds
Lot Numbers: 204214-RL, 204214, 204215, 224221, 224222, 224223, 135215, 135216, 135217, 135220, 135221, 145204, 145205-1, 145207-1, 145210-1
These products were distributed nationwide and sold at various grocery and retail outlets throughout the United States.
Recall Triggered by Labelling Discrepancy
Weaver Nut Company responded promptly after a wholesale customer reported a discrepancy between the product labelling and updated ingredient specifications. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of milk proteins in the products, despite the packaging indicating they were milk-free. Because milk ranks among the top nine allergens in the U.S., federal law requires clear labelling. Failure to declare milk on packaging can cause severe or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions for individuals with milk allergies or sensitivities.
Health Advisory and Consumer Guidance
The FDA reported no illnesses linked to the affected products as of the recall date. However, the agency strongly advises consumers with milk allergies to avoid consuming these chocolates. Customers should return any recalled items to the place of purchase for a full refund, even if the packaging has been opened. Alternatively, they may dispose of the products safely. Weaver Nut Company has committed to implementing stricter quality controls to prevent similar incidents in the future. The recall serves as a precautionary measure to protect public health.
