FDA Recalls Coffee in 15 States for Mislabelling as Decaffeinated

Overview

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for a brand of coffee grounds across 15 states due to mislabelling as decaffeinated, which could cause “adverse health consequences.” The FDA has alerted individuals who avoid caffeine for health reasons, including hypertension, heart conditions, pregnancy, or specific medications.

Affected States in the FDA Recall

The FDA was notified that several 12-ounce bags of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee were sold in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming with incorrect labelling.

Our Family Coffee  Previous Recalls

Earlier this month, Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee issued a statement confirming that other products remain safe and that the recall only affects this particular brand. The company reassured customers that the recall does not extend to other Our Family Coffee products or sizes. “We prioritize your health and safety, and we follow best practices to ensure the quality and safety of our products,” the company stated. “We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.” The affected product belongs to the Our Family Coffee Roasters line and has a best-before date of August 3, 2025.
