UPFSDA Seizes Suspected Expired Food Products Worth ₹7 Lakh in Sahibabad

Key Update

The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (UPFSDA) has seized suspected substandard and expired food products worth more than ₹7 lakh during a major enforcement drive in the industrial area of Sahibabad in Ghaziabad. Acting under a food safety initiative supported by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), officials carried out surprise inspections at two commercial establishments in Site-IV of the Sahibabad Industrial Area.

Tea Leaves, Dairy Mixes Among Products Seized

During the operation, food safety officials confiscated large quantities of tea leaves, dairy mixes, and other food products suspected of being substandard or past their expiry date. The enforcement team also collected 10 legal samples from the premises for laboratory analysis to assess compliance with food safety standards and regulations.

FSSAI Highlights Action Under #FSSAIAction

FSSAI highlighted the enforcement action on the social media platform X as part of its ongoing #FSSAIAction campaign aimed at curbing the sale and distribution of unsafe food products. The regulator stated that such inspections form part of broader efforts to strengthen food safety surveillance, protect consumers, and maintain quality standards across the food supply chain.

Further Action Awaited

Authorities said further regulatory action will depend on the laboratory test results. The drive reflects intensified monitoring by food safety agencies, particularly in major industrial and commercial centres where large volumes of food products are handled and distributed.
