Contaminated Free Ration Found in Amethi, Criminal Case Ordered

Report

In a serious food safety lapse, officials in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, discovered food grains meant for free ration distribution were contaminated with soil and salt. District Magistrate Sanjay Chauhan confirmed the adulteration during a surprise inspection at a fair-price shop in Jalalpur Tiwari village. He ordered the immediate replacement of the grains and directed a criminal case against those responsible.

High-Level Probe Launched; Officials Warn of Health Risks to Poor Families

A high-level probe led by the Additional District Magistrate will investigate the matter. Chauhan also spoke with villagers, who said they had never received such poor-quality grains before. He directed officials to inspect all ration shops where complaints had been reported and submit a report the same day. Officials stressed that contaminated grains pose serious health risks, especially for poor families relying on the government ration. Chauhan warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of compromising food safety standards.
