Key Update 

The Kerala Irrigation Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (KIIDC), a state-owned enterprise, will soon roll out purified bullet ice cubes for soft drinks and food items. The project builds on the success of its Hilly Aqua bottled water brand.

Production and Setup

The ice cubes will be made using the same purified water as Hilly Aqua. With existing purification and bottling facilities in place, KIIDC only needs to add bullet ice units, each costing under ₹10 lakh. The first unit will be set up at Aruvikkara, Thiruvananthapuram, with a 1,000 kg daily capacity. If the pilot succeeds, more units may be established in Thodupuzha, Kattappana, Ernakulam, Aluva, and Chakkitappara in Kozhikode.

Boosting Revenue

KIIDC expects the diversification to increase its turnover, which stood at ₹11.4 crore last year. The corporation is now aiming for ₹25 crore in the coming year.
