Mumbai Food Handlers Trained Under Zepto’s Sankalp Programme

Key Update

Zepto, one of India’s fastest-growing quick commerce platforms, recently conducted a large-scale food safety training session in Mumbai as part of its Zepto Sankalp Programme. The event, held at The Rangaswar Hall, Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, brought together hundreds of food handlers, including last-mile delivery partners and pickers from its city operations.

Training Focuses on Hygiene and Safe Handling

The session aimed to strengthen safe food practices across Zepto’s delivery network. Food safety experts Chinmayee Deulgaonkar, Managing Director of Food Chain ID India, and Sumedha Jalgaonkar, Consultant and Auditor, led the training. They guided participants on personal hygiene, proper storage temperatures, and compliance protocols. By focusing on these fundamentals, the programme sought to reduce risks in the supply chain and ensure safer deliveries for consumers.

Industry and Regulators Emphasise Shared Responsibility

The initiative drew strong support from both industry leaders and regulators. Zepto COO Vikas Sharma highlighted the company’s focus on building consumer trust through safe and reliable operations. Echoing this view, Pritee Chaudhary, Regional Director, FSSAI (Western Region), stressed that food safety is a shared responsibility and praised the Sankalp Programme for effectively connecting regulatory standards with on-ground practices.

Commitment to Raising Standards Nationwide

The Mumbai session forms part of Zepto’s larger effort to embed a culture of compliance across its operations. The company has already trained more than 10,000 food handlers nationwide, with over 2,500 certified under FOSTAC. Regular audits, inspections, and collaborations with regulatory bodies support these trainings, reinforcing accountability at every stage. By integrating structured training into its delivery network, the Zepto Sankalp Programme aims to set higher benchmarks for food safety in quick commerce while strengthening consumer confidence in everyday orders.
