Safe Food Street: A Major Food Safety Initiative
The Safe Food Street project stands as one of the Food Safety Department’s key initiatives. The government aims to promote healthy eating while showcasing Kerala’s rich food culture. To strengthen food safety, the department continues to enforce strict monitoring measures, including clear labelling of date and time on all parcels. The modern Food Street model focuses on offering hygienic and appealing spaces for quality food. The Shanghumugham Food Street has been set up at a cost of ₹1 crore and is expected to boost the tourism sector and enhance the city’s nightlife experience.
Modern Facilities and Strict Hygiene Standards
The Food Street Hub project was implemented with support from the Food Safety Department, DTPC, NHM and the city corporation. The Food Street features 18 permanent food stalls, a common dining area, a waste management system, washing facilities, and restrooms. All outlets will operate strictly in compliance with food safety standards.
A New Culinary Landmark for Visitors and Tourists
The Shanghumugham Food Street offers visitors and tourists a safe way to enjoy a wide variety of flavours. Officials expect the project to uplift Thiruvananthapuram’s food culture and add a new dimension to its nightlife.
