The district administration in Indore on Wednesday shut down a gajak (sesame and peanut sweet) factory in Khatipura after the food safety team found the sweets being prepared in unhygienic conditions.
Officials Halt Production After Spotting Filth
During a surprise inspection, food safety officials discovered workers preparing gajak and other sweets amid dirt and clutter. The unit was also operating without a valid food licence. Officials immediately halted production and sales and collected samples of jaggery, sesame gajak and peanut-based products for laboratory testing.
Team Inspects Another Sweet Unit in Khatipura
The team also inspected Ganbhog Foods in Khatipura. They gathered samples of rajgira (amaranth) and sesame laddoos and sent them for analysis to check compliance with food safety standards. As part of the inspection drive, officials visited Moti Mahal Delux at Phoenix Citadel Mall. They collected samples of paneer, rice and flour to assess their quality and safety.
Collector Reaffirms Priority on Safe Food
Collector Shivam Verma emphasised that the administration prioritises providing clean and safe food to residents. The team has sent all collected samples to the state food testing laboratory in Bhopal, and authorities will initiate further action once the reports arrive.
