Over 30,000 Kg of Expired Amul Products Destroyed in Jaipur

Key Update

The Food Safety Department has destroyed over 30,000 kilograms of allegedly expired Amul products at a warehouse in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Officials acted as part of an ongoing drive against food adulteration and to enforce food safety regulations. Authorities have scheduled the next batch of expired products for destruction on Monday.

Surprise Inspection Following Complaint

Officials launched the raid after receiving a complaint through the 181 grievance portal. Acting on the directions of the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Control, Rajasthan, a team conducted a surprise inspection on February 11 at the warehouse of Messrs Athlete Distributor in the Kho Nagoriyan area of Jaipur.

During the inspection, the team reportedly found a large stock of expired products. Authorities immediately sealed the warehouse and transported the expired items in six trucks to the Mathuradas Garbage Ground for disposal. Officials have resealed the premises and will oversee the destruction of the remaining stock as directed by senior authorities.

Official Confirmation and Approval

Chief Medical Health Officer (Jaipur II), Dr Manish Mittal, stated that the firm’s owner, Gagan Ahuja, submitted a destruction approval order issued by the Municipal Corporation. An authorised company representative also arrived at the site and confirmed that the seized goods belonged to Amul. Authorities continue to monitor the case as part of their broader enforcement efforts to prevent the sale and distribution of expired food products.
