The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department conducted a major enforcement drive in Indore and immediately closed an ice candy manufacturing unit for serious violations. Officials found that the unit operated without a valid food licence and used unsafe water in production. They also observed poor hygiene practices, raising serious public health and safety concerns.
FSSAI Shares Video of Enforcement Action
The action gained wider attention when the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared a video of the inspection on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting violations and steps taken by authorities. Officials seized around 200 kg of food items from the unit and collected five food samples for laboratory testing to verify safety and compliance with food standards.
Unit Shut Down Amid Serious Safety Concerns
After detecting the violations, authorities ordered the unit to shut down immediately to prevent risks to consumers. They also stated that strict action will follow against those violating food safety norms. The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department, in coordination with FSSAI, continues to intensify inspections across the state to ensure compliance and protect public health.
