Key Update
The Madhya Pradesh (MP) Food Safety Department has carried out several inspections across the state to ensure that food establishments follow hygiene and regulatory standards. During recent inspections in Jabalpur and Neemuch, officials uncovered serious violations and suspended the food registration of one outlet. Inspectors found expired ingredients, improper storage practices, and unhygienic handling of everyday food items such as milk, ghee, oil, and pulses. In some cases, establishments store vegetarian and non-vegetarian items together. Regular inspections help authorities ensure that food businesses maintain proper food safety standards.
Surprise Inspection in Jabalpur Uncovers Violations
In a recent Instagram post, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared that the Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department in Jabalpur conducted a surprise inspection at a food outlet near the Shastri Bridge area. During the visit, officials identified major violations related to hygiene, registration, and regulatory compliance.
Inspectors found vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items stored together in the same refrigerator. They also discovered expired barbecue sauce and syrups at the outlet. Considering the seriousness of these violations and the potential risk to public health, authorities immediately suspended the outlet’s food registration.
Neemuch Inspection Targets Multiple Establishments
Food safety officials also carried out inspections in the Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh. They inspected several food establishments in Jeeran town and Chitakheda village and collected samples of milk, ghee, oil, pulses, and other food items. Authorities sent a total of 11 samples for laboratory testing. During the inspection, officials identified several irregularities related to hygiene practices, regulatory compliance, and documentation. Authorities stated that they will take further action in accordance with food safety regulations.
Festive Demand Often Leads to More Violations
Across the country, authorities often observe increases in food adulteration and safety violations during festive seasons. Higher demand for certain food products, especially dairy items, encourages some businesses to cut corners. Regular monitoring and strict enforcement help authorities ensure that food sold to the public remains safe and meets quality standards.
