19 Unlicensed Food Outlets Sealed in West Delhi Crackdown

Key Update

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has sealed 19 eateries and meat shops in Hastsal’s JJ Colony in Uttam Nagar for operating without a valid Health Trade Licence (HTL). The Public Health Department of the West Zone acted for Blocks A, B, and C with police support. During inspections on April 17 and 18, officials found 30 food outlets operating without the required licence. Authorities issued challans and show-cause notices to all identified establishments.

Some Owners Comply, Others Ignore Orders

Following enforcement action, 11 owners voluntarily shut their establishments and submitted written confirmation, which the MCD verified. However, 19 outlets continued operations despite receiving closure notices on April 28, which directed them to stop business within two days.

Drive Aims to Enforce Health and Safety Norms

Officials said the sealing drive aimed to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act. They also confirmed that the action forms part of an ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the West Zone.
