Key Update
Forty-eight students from a private school reportedly suffered suspected food poisoning after consuming chips, lassi and snacks during a picnic to a water park near Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, on Thursday. The students, from a school in Jaitsar, travelled to a water park in Netewala, about seven kilometres from Sri Ganganagar.
While swimming, several students suddenly developed symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, and nausea. School staff immediately shifted the affected children to the district hospital in Sri Ganganagar, where doctors admitted them to the emergency ward for treatment and observation.
Officials Suspect Food Consumed During Journey
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Ajay Singla said preliminary findings suggest the students fell ill after consuming food and beverages during the journey, not inside the water park. According to officials, the students had stopped at Buddha Johad on the way to the park, where they drank lassi and consumed packaged snacks and chips. Their condition reportedly worsened after reaching the water park.
Students Stable, Several Still Under Observation
Doctors said all the students are currently stable and under medical observation. While 10 to 12 children have recovered, around 30 to 35 students remain admitted for treatment.
