Rajasthan Cracks Down on Unsafe Namkeen and Ghee Brands

The Food Safety Department in Rajasthan has banned the sale of specific batches of mixed namkeen products and Bilona Ghee after laboratory tests found them substandard during statewide inspections. Authorities collected food samples from different districts across the state during March and April and initiated action after receiving the test results, said Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department. According to officials, the banned products belong to companies based in Bikaner, Jaipur, and Gwalior.

Food Safety Department Bans Four Products

Food Safety Commissioner T. Shubhamangala said authorities have prohibited the sale of the following products and batches:

  • A batch of papad manufactured by Happy, Pooja Papad Bhandar, Bikaner
  • Certain batches of “All in One Namkeen” manufactured by Bikaji Foods International, Bikaner
  • Roasted chana manufactured by Kitchen King, Dabra, Gwalior
  • A batch of Bilona Ghee manufactured by Shri Anu Milk Products Limited, VKIA, Jaipur

Authorities Flag Additional Products Over Safety Concerns

Officials also raised concerns over the quality and safety of several other food products, including:

  • Black pepper manufactured by Firm Avenue Supermart D-Mart Premia, Maharashtra
  • Green Chilli Sauce (Charlie) manufactured by M/s Balaji Food, Hisar
  • Cow Ghee (Mahavir), Kesar Cream Premium from M/s Mahavir Food, Banaskantha
  • Ghee (Madhu Saras) manufactured by M/s Mateshwari Food, Maharashtra
  • Ghee (Purever) manufactured by M/s Balaji Food, Rajkot
  • Ghee (Shubh Saras) manufactured by M/s Girdhar Milk Food, Panipat
  • Madhu Saras Ghee, one-litre pack, manufactured by M/s Bal Gopal Dairy, Kota
  • Madhu Saras Ghee 500 ml pack manufactured by M/s Avery Dairy Traders, Bawana Industrial Area
  • Dairy Bright Ghee, manufactured by M/s Avery Dairy Traders, Bawana Industrial Area

Officials said laboratory analysis identified quality and safety issues in the products during routine food safety checks.
