CMC Raids Food Stalls at Cuttack Bali Jatra for Safety Violations

Report

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation’s (CMC) Food Safety Department raided multiple food stalls at the Cuttack Bali Jatra today. The department specifically inspected food stalls for chemical food colours, unsanitary conditions, and substandard oil.

Fines and Warnings Issued to Offending Stalls

The CMC fined the food stalls that violated safety standards and warned them against repeating the offences. They also discarded stale food.  “The food colours being used are hepatotoxic and carcinogenic, posing risks to the liver and intestines. We also found stale boiled potatoes stored in refrigerators,” says, CMC Health Officer Mohapatra. “Our team is verifying food safety licenses, and fines will be imposed on violators. If needed, we will seal their stalls for breaching food safety regulations, ” he further added.

Ongoing Crackdown During the Fair

Mohapatra confirmed that the raids would continue daily throughout the Bali Jatra. Mohapatra emphasized that the crackdown would persist until the fair’s conclusion. “Our team will continue conducting raids at various stalls, both during the day and in the evening,” he added.
