Significant Update
In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad Police Enforcement Wing conducted multiple raids between January 1 and April 21, targeting food adulterators and unlicensed manufacturing units. Officials registered 22 cases and arrested 28 individuals for posing serious risks to public health.
The food adulteration raids covered a wide range of products, including bakery items, sweets, namkeen, edible oils, wheat flour, ginger-garlic paste, meat products, ice creams, and sauces. Authorities found several units using poor-quality raw materials and unsafe additives such as synthetic food colours. Inspectors also identified establishments operating in unhygienic conditions without valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India registration or trade licences.
Adulteration and Illegal Operations Exposed
In a major operation, officials uncovered large-scale adulteration involving edible oil and wheat flour, seizing over 5,026 litres of oil and 5,192 kg of flour. The team also busted illegal ginger-garlic paste units that used unknown chemicals as preservatives and sold products under fake brand labels. Overall, authorities seized adulterated food items, machinery, and vehicles worth approximately ₹64 lakh.
Public Advisory
Cyberabad Police urged the public to buy food only from licensed vendors, check expiry dates, and report suspicious activities to authorities.
