The Delhi High Court has stayed FSSAI’s prohibition order against Dabur over its use of “100% Pure” and “100% Natural” claims on food products, giving the company interim relief until the next hearing.

Court Questions Lack of Hearing

Justice Amit Mahajan noted that Dabur had sold these products for decades and found a prima facie case for interim relief. The court said FSSAI issued the prohibition order without first allowing Dabur to be heard. The court will hear the matter again in two weeks.

Dabur Challenges FSSAI Action

Dabur argued that FSSAI’s August 3, 2026, prohibition order violated the principles of natural justice because the regulator did not issue a show-cause notice or allow the company to present its case. The Centre defended FSSAI’s action, saying Dabur had previously received improvement notices and advisories over its “100%” claims.

FSSAI Flags ‘100%’ Claims

FSSAI’s order covered products including honey, apple cider vinegar, virgin coconut oil, sesame oil, cow ghee, coconut water and coconut milk. The regulator said these claims violate the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising & Claims) Regulations, 2018, because they are ambiguous, unverifiable and likely to mislead consumers.
