Food Safety Department Intensifies Canteen Inspections in Noida

Report

The food safety department collected food samples from 40 canteens across hospitals, schools, and colleges in Noida and Greater Noida. Assistant Commissioner Sarvesh Kumar revealed that the district hosts approximately 270 active canteens in health and educational facilities. “We aim to ensure that all food served in these establishments complies with safety and quality standards,” Kumar stated.

Extensive Food Sampling Drive

The department gathered samples of key staples such as lentils, rice, oil, milk, and sugar, as well as cooked items like samosas, patties, and condiments. The initiative also included canteens providing mid-day meals in government schools, reflecting the administration’s focus on student nutrition.

Regular Inspections Planned

To cover all 270 canteens, the department plans to conduct a two-day special inspection drive every month. This initiative will systematically evaluate the remaining canteens to enforce hygiene and food quality standards throughout the district.

Festive Season Focus

With festivals approaching, Kumar emphasized the importance of monitoring bakeries to ensure items like cakes and bread meet freshness and shelf-life criteria. These measures underscore the department’s commitment to maintaining food safety during high-demand periods. This comprehensive approach highlights the administration’s dedication to safeguarding public health in both institutional and commercial food services.
