Report
Following alarming paneer inspection results in Gujarat, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered a nationwide food safety evaluation. The agency instructed all state food safety commissioners to begin testing paneer samples to assess potential adulteration and contamination.
State Authorities Conduct Extensive Sampling
Food safety officers across the country have started collecting five samples each—two packaged, two loose, and one milk substitute. Gujarat’s Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has deployed 165 inspectors for the initiative. “FSSAI acknowledged our 2024 Diwali survey and issued inspection letters,” said Gujarat FDCA Commissioner HG Koshia.
Findings Expected Within a Month
FSSAI has already initiated the sampling process and plans to publish consolidated results within a month. Food safety experts anticipate that the findings will reveal the true extent of adulteration in India’s paneer supply chain, highlighting critical food safety concerns.
