Key Update
Food safety officials in Telangana destroyed around 50 litres of badam milk and kulfi products after uncovering serious hygiene violations at a food manufacturing unit in Hyderabad. Authorities took action to prevent unsafe food from reaching consumers.
Officials Find Unhygienic Preparation
The Flying Squad of the Food Safety Department conducted a surprise inspection on March 28 at a facility in the Mallapur area of Hyderabad. During the raid, officials found that workers were preparing badam milk and other food items in highly unhygienic conditions. Inspectors also noticed that the unit had left food products uncovered and exposed to flies, violating basic food safety and hygiene standards. To eliminate the risk to consumers, officials immediately discarded about 50 litres of prepared products at the site. The Food Safety Department has initiated strict enforcement action against the Food Business Operator (FBO) responsible for the facility. Authorities said they are proceeding under relevant food safety regulations for violating hygiene and safety norms.
Authorities Urge Public Vigilance
Officials have urged consumers to remain alert and report any unsafe or unhygienic food practices they observe at food establishments. They said public vigilance plays an important role in maintaining food safety and protecting public health.
Inspections to Continue
Authorities said the raid is part of ongoing enforcement drives across Telangana to curb unsafe food practices. Earlier this month, food safety officials also busted an illegal samosa manufacturing unit in Hyderabad where operators used spoiled ingredients and reused cooking oil. Officials said they will continue conducting surprise inspections to ensure safe and hygienic food for consumers.
