Introduction
Khushi Ram Behari Lal Ltd. (KRBL), the leading Basmati rice exporter has recalled the India Gate Pure Basmati Rice Feast Rozzana Super Value Pack (1.1 kg) for not meeting pesticide regulations. The recall is specifically related to the existence of two pesticides: Thiamethoxam and Isoprothiolane. Thiamethoxam, an insecticide authorized for use on rice leaves, is aimed at controlling pests such as stem borers, gall midges, leaf folders, white-backed plant hoppers, brown plant hoppers, green leaf hoppers, and thrips. On the flip side, Isoprothiolane is a systemic fungicide that safeguards and treats rice from illnesses such as rice blast, stem rot, and Fusarium leaf spot, and can also aid in decreasing plant-hopper populations.
This product recall is for items made in January 2024, expiring in December 2025. Further, the company advised all its consumers who have purchased the mentioned product to discontinue using it immediately.
Statement
The grain processing company, stated, “The recalled stock was a single batch, and was a result of a single day packing. When alerted, we identified the batch and recall was actioned immediately. We also reinforced our internal due diligence processes to ensure the highest standards are maintained.”
