Lucknow Milkman Caught Spitting in Milk, Detained

Report

A CCTV camera in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar captured a milkman spitting into milk moments before delivering it to a customer. Lav Shukla, a resident of Vinay Khand, reviewed the footage from his home security camera and spotted the shocking act. The video showed the milkman, Mohammad Sharif, also known as Pappu, spitting into milk just before handing it over. Shukla immediately went to Gomti Nagar police station and filed a formal complaint. Acting on the complaint, police identified and detained Sharif. “We have detained the accused and started questioning him. Further action is in progress,” said Station House Officer Brijesh Tiwari, speaking to PTI.

Food Tampering Cases Continue to Surface in Uttar Pradesh

This incident adds to a growing list of food hygiene violations reported across Uttar Pradesh. In Saharanpur, a viral video showed a teenager spitting on rotis at an eatery, prompting authorities to arrest the shop owner. Police in Ghaziabad and Noida also arrested juice vendors for allegedly mixing saliva or urine into drinks before serving them to customers.

State Government Steps Up Food Safety Measures

In response to these repeated offences, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict food safety enforcement. He also called for amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, to allow stricter enforcement and tougher penalties. The directives include:

  • Installing CCTV cameras in all eateries

  • Enforcing hygiene protocols for food handlers

  • Requiring food outlets to display the names and contact details of owners and managers

This latest case highlights the urgent need for vigilance, accountability, and strict hygiene in food handling, especially in daily essentials like milk.
