Over 50 people in Maharashtra’s Nanded district suffered food poisoning on Sunday after consuming ‘bhagar’ (barnyard millet) and peanut paste during a pilgrimage. The incident occurred in Mahur, about 640 kilometres from Mumbai.
Food Poisoning Hits Thakur Buwa Pilgrimage
Devotees gathered for the Thakur Buwa pilgrimage and ate the bhagar and peanut paste on Saturday night, the day of Ekadashi. By Sunday morning, many began vomiting and admitted themselves to Mahur Rural Hospital. Doctors initially classified four patients as critical, but they confirmed that all individuals have recovered and will be discharged soon.
