Key Update
Food safety authorities in Telangana intensified inspections across eateries, bakeries and food manufacturing units, uncovering multiple hygiene and food safety violations that raised serious public health concerns.
As part of the statewide enforcement drive, officials inspected establishments, including Urban Monk Fine Baking and Cyber Pearl Brewing Pvt. Ltd. (Meld House) on Nagole Main Road in Hyderabad. During the raids, authorities detected pest infestation, expired and mislabeled food products, improper food storage practices, suspected repeated use of cooking oil and poor sanitary conditions inside the kitchens and storage areas. Officials discarded spoiled food items, suspected reused oil and expired products on the spot. They also collected samples for laboratory analysis.
Bakery Inspection Finds Rotten Eggs and Contaminated Cakes
In a separate inspection in Karimnagar, food safety officials found major violations at Ganesh Bangalore Bakery in Subhash Nagar, Mancherial Chowrasta. Authorities said they discovered around 750 damaged, foul-smelling and housefly-infested eggs inside the bakery premises. Officials also discarded nearly 20 kg of cakes suspected to have been prepared using the contaminated eggs. The inspection team seized suspected unsafe food items and sent samples for further testing.
Authorities Begin Legal Action
Food safety officials said they have initiated necessary action against the food business operators under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India framework and the Food Safety and Standards Act. The raids form part of Telangana’s ongoing crackdown on adulterated and unsafe food products across the state.
In a public advisory, officials urged consumers to purchase food only from licensed and hygienic establishments. They also encouraged people to report unsafe food handling and suspicious practices to food safety authorities.
