On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department officials inspected a private jaggery market near Chithode following concerns about the sale of contaminated products. They issued strict warnings to bidders at the auction, cautioning them against selling contaminated jaggery or using chemicals banned under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Pre-Pongal Inspections in Full Swing

During the inspection, officials examined a warehouse and collected jaggery samples for laboratory testing to identify potential contaminants. Authorities confirmed that they are conducting district-wide inspections of jaggery production facilities ahead of the Pongal festival. These efforts aim to ensure the availability of safe, contamination-free products for consumers during the festive season.
