The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has awarded Vijayawada railway station the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification. This recognition acknowledges the station’s commitment to maintaining exemplary hygiene and following safe food practices, setting a benchmark for others. With a score of over 85% in the certification assessment, Vijayawada station has earned the ‘5 Star Exemplary Standard Eat Right Station’ certification.
Additional Stations Recognized for Food Safety Excellence
Along with Vijayawada, four other South-Central Railway (SCR) Zone stations have also received the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification. Annavaram, Guntur, Nadikudi, and Hyderabad (Nampally) stations were recognized for their efforts to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, contributing to the overall improvement of food quality for passengers.
What is the ‘Eat Right Station’ Certification?
The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification, awarded by FSSAI, recognizes railway stations that adhere to stringent food safety protocols. These include proper food storage, hygiene practices, vendor personal hygiene, temperature regulation, waste disposal, and separation of wet and dry waste. Stations are also evaluated based on factors like food item expiration dates and the use of protective equipment by vendors.
Acknowledging Team Efforts for Success
Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Narendra A. Patil commended the efforts of Dr. M. Sowribala, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Vavilapalli Rambabu, Station Director M. Sailaja, and Divisional Commercial Manager Md. Ali Khan. He also praised the teams from the catering and commercial sectors for their hard work in achieving this significant recognition.
The certification not only acknowledges the stations’ adherence to food safety standards but also ensures that passengers enjoy high-quality, nutritious meals throughout their journey.
