A 9-year-old girl died, and 15 others, mostly children, are receiving treatment for suspected food poisoning in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh. The victims ate chicken and paneer at a family function in Hangwa village on Wednesday. Health officials quickly responded after reports of severe vomiting and dysentery surfaced. They transferred the affected individuals to the Kondagaon district hospital. Despite their efforts, the young girl tragically passed away while being transported.
Preliminary Findings and Investigation
Chief Medical and Health Officer RK Singh confirmed that food poisoning is the likely cause. Meanwhile, authorities have sent samples of the chicken and paneer for testing and set up a health camp in the village to screen residents for symptoms. In response, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed condolences and assured the public that officials would provide swift medical assistance. Additionally, Minister Kedar Kashyap visited the hospital to assess the victims’ conditions. The CM, in turn, pledged the best possible treatment and support for the affected families.

Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the food poisoning outbreak while closely monitoring the affected individuals. In the meantime, health teams remain on high alert, awaiting test results from the food samples to pinpoint the source of contamination.
