The Commissionerate of Food Safety raided a food manufacturing unit in Karmanghat, Hyderabad, and seized 110 kg of sev and 40 litres of cooking oil after uncovering multiple violations of food safety regulations. The enforcement action followed an inspection at Ashoksingh Foods, where officials found the unit operating in breach of licensing requirements.

Unit Operated with Wrong Registration

Inspectors found that the establishment was manufacturing sev while operating under a retailer registration obtained through the Tatkal registration system. The unit had declared itself as a retailer instead of a food manufacturer, violating Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licensing norms.

Officials Detect Hygiene and Food Safety Lapses

During the inspection, officials observed several food safety violations, including:

• Suspected use of synthetic food colours
• Repeated use of cooking oil
• Unsafe food handling practices
• Poor sanitation and hygiene conditions

The inspection team seized the food products and cooking oil and collected samples for laboratory analysis to determine whether they comply with food safety standards.

Further Action Awaiting Lab Results

The Food Safety Department stated that legal action against the food business operator will depend on the laboratory test results. The raid is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with food safety regulations and protect consumers from unsafe food products.
