Kochi Medical Facility Treats 75 Students for Suspected Food Poisoning After Picnic

 Food Poisoning Incident in Kochi

In Kochi, Kerala, the Government Medical College Hospital in Kalamassery admitted 75 individuals, mainly students from Kozhikode, who experienced suspected food poisoning after a picnic on Wednesday. The group, from Karunyatheeram Special School in Kattippara, Kozhikode, travelled to Kochi with their caregivers, who also required medical attention. The team comprised 104 members in total.

Specialized Care Provided to Food Poisoning Victims at Hospital

They reached the hospital by 10:30 pm, where a dedicated unit was established to provide immediate care. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Ganesh Mohan confirmed that the patients were stable, and Health Minister Veena George emphasized prioritizing emergency treatment for those in critical condition.

Food Poisoning Symptoms Reported After Boat Trip

According to the school administration, Babu, the manager who accompanied the group, confirmed that the students began exhibiting symptoms of food poisoning after eating a meal on a boat at Marine Drive, Kochi. The boat’s staff revealed that a catering team had provided the food for the students and other passengers. Manorama News later reported that all affected individuals had recovered and returned to Kozhikode by Thursday morning.
