As part of the Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku season, Health Inspector Shaji Karukathra spearheaded comprehensive inspections across Erumely town, Peruthodu, Kanamala, Kalaketty, and Mukkoottuthara. The team evaluated 13 establishments engaged in food supply and handling.

Action Taken Against Violations

The inspections revealed serious compliance lapses. Authorities ordered the closure of two shops operating without adhering to mandatory guidelines and lacking valid health cards. Five establishments were also notified for failing to maintain adequate sanitation facilities.

Health department officials stressed the importance of compliance with hygiene standards and issued the following directives:

  • All workers must obtain valid health cards immediately.
  • Establishments must improve solid and liquid waste management systems.
  • Drinking water should be regularly tested, with test reports displayed prominently for public awareness.
