Two Arrested in Hyderabad for Manufacturing Adulterated Ginger Paste

Police in Hyderabad arrested two men for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger paste in unhygienic conditions, raising concerns about food safety in the city. Acting on a tip-off, police from the Mailardevpally station raided a house in Subhan Colony, Ali Nagar, where the accused were reportedly preparing ginger paste using spoiled ingredients and chemicals. The accused allegedly packaged the paste and supplied it to local shops across Hyderabad.

Adulterated Paste Seized During Raid

During the raid, officials seized around 675 kg of adulterated ginger paste, along with several drums and cartons used for packaging. Police also recovered labels of different brands and xanthan gum powder, which the accused allegedly used while preparing the paste. The seized goods were estimated to be worth about ₹90,000.

Chemicals Mixed With Spoiled Ingredients

Investigators found that the accused were mixing chemicals with spoiled ginger and preparing the paste in unsanitary conditions, violating food safety regulations. Authorities said the product was being sold to shops and consumers despite posing a potential health risk. Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to food adulteration and cheating. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further action may follow.
