Fake on the Shelf: Over 1 Lakh Counterfeit ENO, Nescafé Seized in Delhi Raid

Key Update

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has seized over one lakh counterfeit ENO antacid sachets and 50,000 fake Nescafé coffee sachets in a major crackdown on a well-organised racket manufacturing fake branded food and healthcare products. Acting on specific inputs, the Cyber Cell and Special Staff (SR), Crime Branch, conducted a raid in Madhu Vihar and arrested four accused. During the operation, officials busted two illegal manufacturing units involved in producing and packaging counterfeit goods.

Fake Manufacturing Setup Exposed

Police recovered large quantities of fake coffee and antacid sachets along with filling machines, raw materials, and packaging materials designed to closely mimic original products. The scale of the operation suggests that the accused intended to distribute these counterfeit items widely in local markets. Given the popularity and high consumption of brands like ENO and Nescafé, the presence of fake products raises serious concerns about consumer safety and public health.

The incident has sparked concern among consumers. Many social media users expressed frustration over the increasing presence of counterfeit and unsafe products in everyday life, highlighting broader issues around food safety and trust.

Police Action and Investigation

The Crime Branch shared details of the operation on its official X handle. Inspector Manjeet Kumar and Inspector Pradeep Singh led the raid under the supervision of ACP Swagat Patil Rajkumar, with overall supervision by DCP Rahool Alwal. Counterfeit packaged food and healthcare products can pose serious health risks, especially when consumed regularly. Authorities have urged consumers to stay vigilant, examine packaging carefully, and purchase products only from reliable and trusted sources.
